After the 30-year war, many Dutch and Frisians migrated to Berlin. In 1698 about a quarter of the Berlin population was a Frenchman. Two ring roads have been built around the city, one of which is 196 km long. In a few suburbs, cars may only drive with an environmental sticker. The Berlin metro has been around since 1902.
